Taking Care of a Thickened Sweater Cardigan

If you have ever gotten yourself into a real thick sweater cardigan, you know how difficult it is to get out.thickened sweater cardigan Most people who have one simply cannot get themselves out of them. I know I can't. But, I've also had some pretty good luck with these type of cardigans. You can get yourself out of them pretty easily if you know how to do it.

The first thing you want to try when trying to loosen a thickened sweater is to take it apart.thickened sweater cardigan Sweaters like this are usually quite thick and you need a lot of force to get them apart. So, if you're not looking to hurt yourself doing this, go ahead and skip this step. It's okay if you mess up because the sweater will still be pretty heavy.

Once you have worn the garment apart, start untangling it. I'm sure you've noticed that the buttons all go in different directions. So, if you're looking for an easy way to work on the buttons, pull each one down and start working on them one at a time. Use your nails to guide you though the buttons so you don't rip any of the yarn. When you reach the bottom button, just undo it and repeat the process on the remaining buttons.

You're almost done! All you have left is to take the sweater's neck edge and pull it until the sweater falls off of the aran, or sweater band. Then, you can untangle it from the band, and the rest should fall right off. It may take a few more tries to untangle it, but it will eventually come off.

Now, there's a few other tips that may help you make your sweater undone. First, I find it best to start in the middle. Usually I find it easiest to start at the top and work my way down. This way you have more room to work, and it won't be as long of a process. Another thing that works well is to take one end of the sweater and twist it. Twist it until you get it to where you want it.

When you're through with your project, just lay the sweater back on the hanger and sew it up. If you're a real stickler, then you can always machine-sew it. And then you're done! That's it! A thickened sweater is so easy to make and it doesn't cost a lot of money. The best part is you're spending your time doing something that you're going to enjoy.
